First off, I'm a recreational diver only - I do dive all year round, primarily cold water, but my depths seldom exceed the 20m mark, and I do no-decompression dives only. As such, this computer is probably an overkill for me.
I chose it primarily because it has a big color screen (and I find my eyesight getting worse), and it was compatible with my previously owned tank transmitter. Other features of the computer also appealed to me (such as the integrated compass, bluetooth transmission of your dive log). In addition, I am not a huge fan of gear with non-changeable, rechargeable batteries, because I fear they will age and die on me some time. Finally, the Perdix 2 has had some amazing reviews, and Shearwater has a reputation for building quality products.
The computer was delivered super fast. The package comes with lots of "goodies" (spare O-rings, a neat opening tool, shell case for the computer, a bungy string and arm bands for attaching the computer to your wrist). If anything, I think the included manual is pretty much useless, because of the small size (can't imagine that anyone would read through that micro-scale paper). I downloaded the online manual from Shearwater directly. The thing is also appears to be built like a tank.
The setup was fairly simple (linking the tank pod, setting up my personal dive screen). There are a lot of options, which may be overwhelming... I haven't tried them all, naturally... the setup I chose was based on the information that my previous computer was also showing (so it's "stuff I know").
I am now only 3 test-dives into the computer. Working the buttons even with thick dry-suit gloves is unproblematic. The screen is easy to read under water, and even in poor lighting conditions. AI works like a charm (using a FCC MH8A transmitter)
Post dive, linking the computer to my smartphone is super easy and reliable. I used the Shearwater app to download the dive data. I like the online cloud log, though I may still check out other, non-brand apps.
So far, I find it a very good (if also very expensive) computer.
I Don't have much to say about the Perdix 2,everyone knows what's this thing about.Crisp screen and amazing premium finish on the Ti black.I have to say much though for Lucas, nice and secure packaging, satisfying delivery time and the best of all is the immediate response I get whenever a sent them an e-mail, like the next 5 minutes, really nice. One thing that surely needs some improvement is the amount of shipping fee (for orders under 500) They need to get some better deals with the courier services
Ordering process quick and smooth, fast delivery with real time tracking, I received my new Perdix in a safe package, in perfect state, very satisfied indeed, I will, for sure, consider Lucas Divestore for my future purchases.
