The full face snorkel mask is increasing in popularity. Why? That’s easy. Full face snorkel masks are easy to use and therefore make snorkeling easier and more enjoyable. A full face snorkel mask covers your whole face, which of course also gives it its name. At Lucas Divestore you will find full face masks from the best brands, such as Aqualung, Tusa, OceanReef and Seac.
How does a full face snorkel mask work?
A regular snorkel set consists of a separate snorkel mask and snorkel. With a full face snorkel mask, both are integrated into the mask itself. The air you breathe enters the mask through a central channel. The air you exhale is then discharged to the outside via side channels. The advantage of this is that you can breathe normally through your nose and mouth without getting water inside your nose or mouth. This happens a lot faster with a regular snorkel, because you only breathe through your mouth. Another advantage is that a full face snorkel mask doesn’t or hardly fogs on the inside, because it has an air circulation system.
Use of a full face snorkel mask
The full face mask is easy to place on your face. Put the elastic bands over your head and tighten the bands for a watertight seal. The silicone jacket on the full face snorkel mask makes it very comfortable to wear. However, you have to make sure you buy the right size. A full face snorkel mask that’s too big for your face will not fit correctly. Therefore the chance of water passing through the silicon seals increases and the function of the full face mask disappears. That is why we advise to try on a full face snorkel mask in a store. If you are not able to fit or if you are unsure about the size, choose a smaller mask.
When you are wearing the full face snorkel mask and go into the water, make sure to swim calmly at the surface. The masks are not suitable for diving underwater. This can be dangerous due to the air pressure in the mask. The spout, which is located at the top of the mask and rises above the water, often has a bright color. This makes it clearly visible from the water's edge. This spout has a valve that closes automatically when you go underwater. This means that no water can get into the mask, but you cannot breathe as long as you are underwater. Should water nevertheless get into your full face mask, it can generally be easily removed with a valve at the bottom.
Rinse your full face mask thoroughly after use and prevent residues from remaining. Residues can reduce the functioning of the air system.
